パンデミックに襲われてから一年、世界はさらに大きな変化を遂げているようだ。 特に、既存の社会体制や価値基準から抜け出さず、権力と権益獲得を目指し続ける者達の “奢り” に対して、 世界の市民は厳しい目を向けて大きな声を挙げ始め、“ 奢り ” の者達の改心や駆逐へと動いているようだ。





例えば、米国での大統領選に際して、人種差別を容認するかの様な言動を擁護する者達と、米国の枠を超えて世界中で反対のメッセージを発する市民達との攻防。例えば、世界的な感染の広がりを危惧してオリンピック開催そのものに反対する市民の声に対して、意見交換の場を設けたり、最大限の説得の努力を行なおうとしなかった事や、世界は女性蔑視に繋がる権力者の言動に厳しいという現実を見失い、世界の市民達の抗議の声の存在が、委員長の辞任へと繋がったと言えるだろう。





既存体制の中で権力者や経済界重鎮に支えられてきた政治家たちは、よほど大きな過ちを犯さない限り、国民の審判は数年に一度の選挙対策で封じる事が可能だった。 しかし、世界中の市民たちは、そんな時代は変わりつつある事に気付いているに違いない。既に、自分達には世界を変える力がある事を実感し、実際、世界ではそれで世界の変化が始まっている事を理解し始めている。





パンデミック、地球温暖化、異常気象、世界平和など、全世界が一緒に対策を行なうべき事に対して、各国政府や国際機関に頼りきったままでは不十分と判っているならば、世界の市民には行動を行なう責任がある。 それが真の意味での民主主義と言えるだろうし、他者の責任として非難するだけで終わらせず、自ら考えて行動を行ない、その成果と責任を享受する人達・世界市民は今後さらに増えていくだろう。



 


Pride and Civic Power

For the powers that be of the world, the days when they could exercise power over their own citizens based on their past experiences are coming to an end. Already, the voices of the world's citizens have become the world's public opinion, and it is no longer possible to proceed only with the intentions of one country.
This is evidenced by the fact that citizens around the world are expressing their opposition to racial discrimination in the U.S., and that the voices of the world's citizens cannot be ignored, even when it comes to the appointment of the secretariat for the Olympic Games.

The time is now at hand when politicians and powers will not be able to establish their own power through elections held every few years, but will be judged by the citizens of the world beyond national borders. We can say that a truly global democratic society is coming.
